Swim for Smiles Triathlon July 26th, 2009

Here are Dawn, Matt D. And Josh at the Swim for Smiles Tri in Chapel Hill on Sunday July 26, 2009. Distances were 250 yard swim, 11.5 mile bike and 5k run. Dawn and Josh sported the new DAMA temporary tatoos. Karyn T. also competed individually and was second in her age group!

Thanks to Karen F. and Jessica P. for their support and enthusiasm. Relay was "Our First Try".

Chris Green Lake Cable Swim 2 mile

Here are Matt D., Kim and Gail at the end of the 2 mile Cable swim in Charlottesville, VA on July 11, 2009. Matt was fourth in his age group, Kim was second female overall and first in her age group and Gail was first in her age group. Buddy, Yogi, Andrea and Jason came along for the ride. The outdoor mall was fun and dog friendly! Go DAMA! The cable is anchored in the water and is 1/4 mile long.

There were orange buoys at both ends of the cable .

Team Banquet?

Please let me know what ideas you have for a DAMA swim team banquet this year. I am hoping to use the multi-purpose room at Campus Hills and have a pot-luck. We could announce the achievements of the Team and individuals, socialize, give out awards for most team spirit, most improved, longest member of DAMA, most sportsmanship, number of years with the team, etc. We could all submit pictures and do a slide show of events from the past year. Spouses, significant others, friends and children could attend. When would be a good day and time for everyone? How about a saturday from 4-6pm? The room is available for us from 4-6pm on March 7th...

The 2009 edition of the USMS pocket journal is now available to DAMA members of United States Masters Swimming. If you are a member of USMS for 2009 and would like your free copy please see Coach Andrea. The pocket journal can be used to track your progress, record best times and goals or log your yards completed during Masters work-outs. This is a free service from USMS to registered team members.
